The Moleskine | Unsettled Experience

We Move To Be Moved...

“We do not travel for the purpose of simply moving from place to place… We travel to inspire a deeper sense of self, to spark our creativity and self-expression. We travel to move something within us. We move to be moved. And in doing so, step closer to ourselves.”

Like all Unsettled experiences, Moleskine | Unsettled retreats give you the time and space to break out of your routine and get inspired –  while still staying connected to your daily work. We provide accommodations, coworking space, local experiences, and an incredible community to share it with.

Yet through this unique partnership with Moleskine®, we’re taking things a level deeper. A mix of a coworking retreat and creativity incubator, a Moleskine | Unsettled retreat is a jointly designed program meant to inspire your creative potential – whether you’re a professional artist or simply someone who needs that creative boost.

This means more hands-on local experiences (meeting local artists, immersing ourselves in creative environments, etc.) as well as original workshops and tools we’ve developed with Moleskine, digging into the questions of what really moves you, what drives your creative process, and how that can be expressed in all mediums.  All of this results in a bit more structured, inclusive, and curated retreat than our standard Unsettled experiences which are more open, flexible, and choose-your-own-adventure.

We’re excited to co-create together, and bring the Moleskine brand’s commitment to enabling creativity, storytelling, and self-expression to the Unsettled platform. We hope you are as well…

Are you ready to be moved?

A Day in the Life…

What does a Moleskine | Unsettled Retreat really look like? The answer is up to you. We provide a platform and light structure for meaningful conversations, creative workshops, and authentic local experiences, but what you opt into is your choice. You’ll live like a local, finding balance between being productive, collaborating with your peers, and exploring your environment. Every day is different, but here’s a sample of what yours might look like…

7:30am: Wake up to a warm day. It’s still quiet around the villa and so you have your coffee to yourself, taking the chance to meditate, journal, read, or just sit with your thoughts to soak in the moment and ease into the day.

8:30am: Head down to grab breakfast with whoever else is up. Over bites, you find yourself in a discussion about daily routines and rituals, and discover some practices from fellow participants you might want to try this month. Stay put to carry on the conversation or pop out for a local yoga class, a neighbourhood walk, or if you’re in Bali, maybe a quick dip in the pool.

10:30am – 12:30pm: You give yourself permission to do something you rarely would do back at home… shutdown your laptop, turn off your phone, and decide to go analog. You get out pen and paper and spend the next 2 hours taking notes, jotting down yesterday’s ideas, and for the brave, taking time to think deeply about what matters to you. You grab a local lunch — maybe street food or that local spot you keep hearing about — on your way to the co-working space.

1:00pm – 3:00pm: You join a workshop hosted by Unsettled’s team that explores a local philosophy and how it shows up in daily life here. This session takes you out into the world you where you draw inspiration; maybe it’s a hike, a walk through a local market, or a traditional craft that you find yourself diving into.

3:00pm – 8:00pm: Project time. You feel the need to take all of the day’s conversations, experiences, and reflections, and use them as fuel to go “heads down” and be productive. You surprise yourself by getting in that beloved state of flow as the times passes by. You get all the work you were hoping to get done for the day knocked out in a few hours, with extra time to spend on some side projects you’ve been putting off for too long.

8:00pm: Group dinner. Two participants just made a delicious meal for everyone that combines a traditional recipe from back home, somehow scrapped together with local ingredients and substitutes. One of the facilitators prompts a group conversation with a provoking question:  ‘What would be the title of your TED talk, and why?’, which puts a reflective bookend on the day.

10:00pm: The evening winds down like it started. You end up with a few people having drinks on the patio until great conversation slowly turns into a quiet moment alone and you find yourself ready to head off to bed. Tomorrow is another day filled with possibility…

An Unsettled trip is like venturing into the unknown. You have no idea how the experience or people you’ll meet will be… but that unknown proved to be a very rewarding experience. You’ll leave Unsettled richer. Richer in the memories you create and the connections you make. Worth every minute.
