What Does An Unconventional Path to Success Look Like?

By: The Unsettled Team

The current state of the world today is forcing many of us to pivot our immediate professional plans and change course, even if just for a little while.

It is as good a time as any to remind ourselves that throughout the course of human history, there have been an infinite number of paths to success.

As we say on our Virtual Retreats,Life is an adventure into the unknown. Knowing how to be intentional and navigate towards what you want next may be the most fundamental tool you ever learn.” Life isn’t a destination, but an evolving journey we learn how to navigate along the way.

Our friends at Resume-Now created these awesome infographics highlighting the unconventional career paths of so many of today’s great entrepreneurs. We’ve also come across a few fascinating ones of our own. For example… Harrison Ford worked as a carpenter for 15 years before starring in Star Wars. Julia Child worked in advertising, media, and secret intelligence before writing her first cookbook when she was 50. Martha Stewart, believe it or not, was a full-time model, then stockbroker, before turning her love for gourmet cooking into a media empire.

One of our personal favorites, Brandon Stanton (the guy behind Humans of New York) was a bond trader in Chicago who lost his job after the 2009 financial crisis.

Today’s crises, failures, and career experiments are just tomorrow’s opportunities in disguise.

So, the only question is… what will your life infographic look like one day?

If you’re asking these questions… there’s a community for you. Try our Lifestyle Incubator program, and see where one month of questions with a global community of career-shifters and life-explorers can take you.
