10 Ways Exercise Can Make You Happier Than Money

According to the results from a recent research study, physical exercise is more essential to mental wellbeing than even our economic status or success. The researchers concluded that individuals with a regular exercise routine felt bad for 35 days a year, whereas participants who do not regularly exercise felt bad on average for 53 days a year.

This study found three to five training sessions that last from 30-60 minutes per week is the optimal amount of weekly exercise.

2. We Dance for Cardio

Salsa, tango, or just bopping to the beat in a Nicaraguan surf bar, when an Unsettler cranks up the tunes (especially to a collaborative Spotify playlist of participants’ favorite hometown jams) a dance party is bound to start.

3. We Swim and Surf in the Waves

Pools or oceans, seas or rivers, some Unsettlers are known to never take their swimsuits off while on retreat. Diving off surfboards, sailboats, paddle boards, or even the Earth’s natural waves, swimming or hanging in the pool is a crowd favorite.

4. We Yogi it Up

From experienced yogis to first-time practicers, Unsettled alumni have shared early morning asanas to evening savasanas on many a retreat or two. We take mindfulness to the next level. And not just in Bali!

5. We Cycle Like the Locals

Whether on a bicycling tour (paired with a paella tour!) of Barcelona or winding through the colorful streets of Medellin on the way home from our coworking space, there is nothing quite like getting that heart rate up while feeling completely local in a new environment.  

 

6. We (well, some of us) do Gymnastics

It only takes a few days before the handstands and cartwheels come out. What’s your hidden talent?

 

7. We Train for Marathons or Run for Fun

There is often an avid early morning runner among us, and most often more than one is in our midst for automatic international running clubs. Whether training for a marathon or just boosting those endorphins, new running routes always await.

 

8. We Are Equestrians

Many Unsettlers have embraced their inner gauchos and like to see the sights atop brand new horse friends. You gotta use those calf muscles to simply hold on, it’s exercise we tell ya!

 

9. We’re on a Boat!

Traveling on the waters atop all types of floating devices, riding the winds and the waves, is in true Unsettled fashion. Ahoy!

 

10. We Wander

Wandering through surroundings like these deserve their own exercise category. Just what the doctor ordered.
