“As a city, it is always compelling. But every day in Mexico City, I give thanks that I am alive.” – Alejandro González Iñárritu
Frida Kahlo’s famous cobalt-blue home, all the taco stands and mezcal haunts you could ever imagine, and over 160 museums in this cultural capital — and this just skims the surface. We are venturing down into Mexico City’s thriving underground scene for one week, October 5-12. We are making the heartbeat that pulses through CDMX our very own.
Fun Facts about Mexico City:
-
CDMX (Ciudad de México) is one of the oldest continuously inhabited areas in the Western Hemisphere.
-
Mexico City is surrounded by mountains on all sides, and many of them were once volcanoes.
-
CDMX is super green, and not only because there is a natural reserve within the very city, Desierto de los Leones.
-
Mexico City has more museums than New York City and Chicago combined.
-
Before European colonization, the Aztec’s called the city, the capital of the Aztec empire, Tenochtitlan, which means “among the prickly pears [growing among] rocks”.

What are our Mexico City alumni saying?:
“It’s rare to go to a city that feels so laid back… but also so full of life and color. It truly has the kindest people. They welcome foreigners. They share their culture, and have such a rich one. And I LOVE how green it is! Plants everywhere… and incredible weather since it’s at a high elevation. There’s an unlimited amount of things to do here.” – Katie Rodgers, Moleskine | Unsettled Mexico City 2019 alum
